Job Details
Key Responsibilities
A. Welding Operations
Perform welding activities using MIG, MAG, TIG, and Arc welding processes, as applicable.
Carry out welding of structural components, plates, brackets, frames, and engineering assemblies.
Perform tack welding, fillet welding, butt welding, and other welding operations.
Ensure proper joint preparation, fit-up, alignment, and welding sequence.
Select appropriate welding consumables and parameters as instructed.
Carry out welding as per approved drawings and instructions.
B. Fabrication Activities
Assist in fabrication activities such as cutting, grinding, edge preparation, fit-up, and assembly.
Understand engineering drawings and follow dimensions and specifications.
Ensure proper positioning and alignment of components before welding.
Use suitable jigs, fixtures, and clamps during fabrication.
Carry out grinding and finishing after welding wherever required.
C. Quality Control
Ensure welds are free from cracks, porosity, undercut, excessive spatter, and other visible defects.
Maintain proper weld size, bead appearance, and joint strength.
Perform visual inspection of completed welding jobs.
Rectify welding defects and rework as instructed.
Maintain consistency in welding quality.
D. Equipment & Tool Handling
Operate welding machines and related equipment safely.
Maintain welding cables, holders, torches, regulators, and accessories.
Ensure proper handling and storage of welding electrodes and consumables.
Report machine breakdowns and equipment issues to the supervisor.
E. Safety & Housekeeping
Follow all welding safety procedures.
Use appropriate PPE, including welding helmet, gloves, safety shoes, and protective clothing.
Ensure proper ventilation and fire prevention measures.
Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping at the welding workstation.
Follow 5S practices and report unsafe working conditions.
F. Production & Reporting
Complete assigned welding jobs within the planned production schedule.
Coordinate with fitters, fabricators, and machine operators.
Inform the supervisor about material shortages, drawing clarifications, and production difficulties.
Maintain proper utilization of materials and welding consumables.
Report daily work progress to the Production Supervisor.
