Job Description

Prepares and updates materials procurement inspection procedures for the
inspection of Major Equipment, Spare Parts and Engineering Materials.
Assists the Section Head in developing scope of works for Third Party Inspection
Contractual Agreement and monitors the effectiveness of Contractor’s performance.
Reviews purchase requisitions and recommends inspection class/testing and
certification requirements for the procurement of equipment, spare parts and
materials. Maintains/updates register/database. Reviews Purchase Orders and
verifies Supplier compliance with the inspection and certification requirements.
Prepares and issues inspection authorization to Third Party Inspection (TPI)
Agency. Ensures that complete updated documentation is provided to TPI Inspector.
Maintains/updates register.
Reviews/coordinates and resolves comments on the Supplier quality/control plans.
Reviews and distributes TPI Reports. Ensures that all inspection requirements have
been fulfilled satisfactorily according to final approved drawings/documents and
supplier quality plan. Expedites receipts and reviews TPI ‘Release fro Shipment
Note’ against Purchase Order Requirements.
Carries out as and when required specialized inspection at manufacturer premises
and witnesses applicable quality tests.
Carries out preliminary checking of materials test certificates and test reports for
Purchase Orders that do not require inspection at Supplier premises. Ensures
completeness and compliance with Purchase Order requirements of submitted
certificates before forwarding to User for final approval.
Assists in resolving all matters pertaining to Material Discrepancy Reports (MDR)
relevant to inspection certificates and follows up till closeout; prepares monthly
report on status of resolved and outstanding MDRs.
Keeps informed of latest developments in the field of Quality Control/Quality
Assurance, non-destructive testing techniques and revisions to International Codes
of Practice and standards.
Surveys Vendors/Contractors/Consultants/Manufacturers to assess their
capabilities.
Reviews and evaluates suppliers Quality Management System/HSE and verifies the
implementation of their QMS/HSE procedures in relation to their supplied products
and services. Prepares recommendations on supplier’s performance and
capabilities with regard to QA/QC.
Develops/suggests improvement to Company Procedures for the survey and
performance monitoring of contractors/manufacturers/vendors in pre and post
commitment phases, related to QA/QC and HSE.

Skill set

B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
7-8 years’ experience in inspection of STATIC equipment/materials in an oil/gas /
REFINERY or PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRY and quality evaluation of
suppliers/contractors.
Conversant with international codes and standards for process industry,
engineering, manufacturing, inspection and quality/HSE systems.
INSPECTION EXPERIENCE WORKING ON STATIC EQUIPMENT IS A MUST.
CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE EXPERIENCE IN SHOP INSPECTION.
