Description
I just wanted to do a follow up on the 6 macaws that arrived last night. Apparently most of them are all related to each other and you can see there are quite a few very young ones in the group. Because so many of them look so similar we tried to keep bonded pairs together as we did have to separate them because some were fighting. Obviously the cage was not big enough for all of them, but we wanted to just keep them all together last night since they were all used to being together. We separated them today pretty much in half and I don’t know if we actually got the bonded pairs together with each other which makes me very sad. I hate breaking up flocks and even more breaking up bonded pairs. If anybody at all might be interested in adopting the whole bunch of them if you have an aviary situation or a patio or giant flight cage or anything like that we would absolutely love that they could all stay together. If not, maybe two groups could be adopted together and we will try to put them all back together first to see if we can figure out the bonded pairs a little bit better. This is the part that I HATE the most is taking birds from a really great situation where they had a nice life and a big flock and unfortunately circumstances changed all of that for them.
If anyone is interested & has the proper set up for them, please please let me know. These little birds get overlooked, but they are such a big community and so flock oriented and are really quite fun and pleasurable to have.
