Job Summary
The Cashier is responsible for processing customer purchases accurately and efficiently, handling cash and electronic payments, issuing receipts, and providing friendly customer service. The cashier must maintain accuracy in billing and cash handling while following company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Operate the cash register/POS system accurately and efficiently.
Scan and enter products correctly and ensure the correct prices are charged.
Receive cash, credit/debit card, and other approved payment methods.
Provide accurate change and issue receipts to customers.
Handle cash responsibly and maintain proper cash balance.
Verify prices, discounts, promotions, and loyalty offers where applicable.
Assist customers with basic queries and provide professional customer service.
Process refunds, exchanges, and cancellations according to company policy.
Maintain a clean and organized checkout counter.
Ensure all transactions are properly recorded in the POS system.
Report price discrepancies, damaged products, or system issues to the supervisor.
Conduct cash counting and reconciliation at the beginning and end of the shift.
Follow company procedures regarding cash security and loss prevention.
Coordinate with supervisors and other departments when required.
Maintain professional behavior and appearance at all times.
Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor or management.
Requirements
Previous cashier or retail experience is an advantage.
Basic computer and POS system knowledge.
Good numerical and calculation skills.
Good communication and customer-service skills.
Ability to work accurately under pressure.
Honest, reliable, punctual, and responsible.
Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.
Knowledge of multiple languages is an advantage.
