I stayed there for 3 nights in March and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel room was very clean and a good size - the bed was so comfy. Another good thing about the hotel was there were really good restaurants within the hotel - we ate at the Italian, chinese and Vascos was excellent. Also the beach club was good - spent most of my days on the beach... so peaceful. The room was a decent size and the king size bed was so comfy. The bathroom was very clean and provided us with soap, shampoos etc. The hotel had great facilities - the beach club was really good. You got a clean towel given to you each day and the beach bars were good - not too expensive for drinks either. All the staff were very helpful and always pleasant. Very good restaurants here - ate at the italian, the chinese, Vascos and Hemingways. All very good and nice surroundings. We felt we got a good deal for this hotel. However the laundry service was a bit more expensive than we were expecting !!:( .It has everything you need in a hotel - nice, clean room, lovely restaurants, good beach club. The hotel was located accross the road from the beach - fine although had to cross the underpass each day. Better than crossing a busy road mind you. Got a taxi no problem when we left.

Thursday Sea food buffet in Khalidiya sheraton is amazing. The wide variety of sea food and the awesome salad choice is simply the best. I strongly recommend people to try the sead food in Sheraton Khalidiya. Desserts are awesome too.

I wouldn’t want to miss eating in a restaurant serving home-like-dishes with my visit in Abu Dhabi this time around. My friends suggested this place with few not so good feedbacks. I want to experience it myself so we decided to go still, anyway. It’s was a busy time, so it took a while for us to get seated and much longer to get our orders. It looks like this restaurant is targeting a big crowd for they have big tables surrounded by lots of chairs. There were a lot of people waiting for their orders to be served at that time and their pissed off faces couldn’t be hidden anymore. It isn’t a good idea at all to come here when you’re starving to death already. We ordered Chicken Adobo with Rice, Bihon Guisado, Crispy Calamares & Halo Halo. When we finally got our orders, I don’t think we can finish them all. Their serving is really huge. This place is excellent for groups who could share with each other. Everything that we ordered were all good, they’re just a little bit oilier than I expect. But their Halo Halo is the best one I’d ever tasted within Dubai & Abu Dhabi. I would say that their price is also reasonable given the portion of the food that they serve. So if you do want to try Filipino cuisine this is a good place as any to start with.
It was already lunch time when we finished our presentation to one of our customers so we decided to drop by to one of our manager's favorite restaurants before going back to Dubai. I am not in the mood for seafood that day but everyone wants there so I think I don't have that much of an option if I would like to stay with them. The place is nice and the staffs are accommodating. Most of my managers are Arabic & always eat there, just in case it would make a difference with the welcoming atmosphere. We ordered 2 kinds of salad, Rocka Salad Jarjeer & Arabic Salad... Fried Calamari... Fried Sultan Ibrahim... Grilled Prawns & Shaari. We didn't get bored waiting for our orders for we're busy talking about how the presentation went so I didn't notice how long we'd waited. The fish were served with Lebanese side dishes and the serving is more than enough. I would admit that the quality of the food is worth staying with my group, I liked them. It’s quite expensive though because we spent AED 445 for 6 pax but this place is definitely one of the best restaurants in Abu Dhabi.
This restaurant is a great place to have a sushi dinner, specially on sunday eve, where u can get a seafood buffet at a low price.the view from outside is fabulous. facing the sheikh zayed mosque, and next to fairmont hotel, u can relax in its quiet space next to the sea. it's of the best away from the crowdness of other places in the main Abu Dhabi
I'm surprised that no one has reviewed this incredible restaurant so far on dubizzle!
Could it be that no one has gone to this food paradise yet?! Or perhaps people can't think of enough words to describe it!!
Whatever it is, I am going to try to capture the taste, atmosphere and the feelings in words that will certainly not do enough justice to this place.
Nevertheless this will certainly be a review that you can trust!
My hubby and I thought it would be a nice change to go for a Valentine’s lunch instead of our conventional dinner. What encouraged us further was that the weather these couple of days has been amazing and that it would be nice to try to enjoy it now before it summer’s in.
So we set out to the Shangri-la qaryet el-beri for the lunch buffet at Sofra.
We had never been to that part of town and we were stunned by what we saw.
It truly lives up to its name. You see, qarya means village in Arabic and the entire area of villas and hotels which is partially secluded from the rest of the city, is like a resort village.
The restaurant at the Shangri-la which is the main venue for all-day dining is located downstairs, facing the terrace and swimming pool and overlooks the short stretch of sea between the two bridges. I hadn’t realized that the two bridges actually exist! I thought it was a mere nomenclature.
Dining at the Sofra should be reserved for special occasions as it is neither your average “everyday” restaurant nor hotel. The hotel and restaurant’s architecture, setting, interior décor, ambience and food are exquisitely rich . The food was presented in a stylish gourmet manner where some dishes in small plates reflecting the painstaking procedures the chefs must have gone through to delight the guests at the restaurant.
Despite arriving very late to Sofra (at 2:30),and the place was somewhat busy, we were seated promptly (we chose a table inside as the sun was still high outside)and were asked to go ahead with the buffet. This is the only negative remark that I will be making about the place-they lunch buffet ends too soon!
The buffet stations are set at the back of the restaurant in an authentic Arabian market place-like decor, taking you on a journey on Sinbad’s flying carpet to Iraq’s traditional markets (the place seriously looks like Bagdad’s ancient brass market!).
Since we had arrived late and with the buffet stations closing at 3pm, we decided to fill our plates from each station and then taking our own sweet time to eat. And sweet it was!
There are two stations serving salads and appetizers-mostly Arabic and simple sushi and miniature California rolls.
Another entire station was dedicated to fish and seafood, almost a fish market in its own right.
We tried the jumbo grilled prawns, and the grilled pomphret, seared in garlic butter sauce. This was a dish to remember. Being avid fish eaters, this restaurant is certainly one of the finest in this field.
The next station was the international cuisine, with lasagna pieces in placed expertly in small platters, the look and taste of which were unquestionably outstanding.
Other things were pumpkin dauphines, roasted veggies, very lasagna-like layered beetroot and celery, and kale dolma (very typical middle-eastern dish) and roasted chicken. As crazy as it may sound, I managed to eat a bit from every single dish and they all tasted beyond incredible.
Vegetarians should have high expectations at Sofra. The selection of fantastic veggie food there is dramatic.
Our next stop was the indian/pakistani cuisine which included biryani, lots of curries and vegetable kormas. Things were getting better and better as we proceeded along the stations because the next pit stop was the grilled meat a la arabic style, which I must admit is my personal favorite and which any meat lover would appreciate. I asked for 3 skewers of meat kabab and tikka to be delivered to our table. It hardly took 10-15 minutes of grilling, and it was worth the wait.the tikka was succulent and mediumly done. This truly satisfied my carnivorous self!
There was a small lebanese/turkish bakery at the side for things like stuffed spinach and sumac triangles and the traditional saj bread. Everything looked admirable but I was seriously beginning to doubt I had any room left in my muscle bag called my stomach.
Last but not least was an area for morroccan cuisine. We had never had anything moroccan before and the food looked appealing in the pottery tajine dishes.i sampled some apricot chicken tajine that reminded me of a traditional iraqi meat dish cooked with prunes and driet apricots. The verdict, intoxicatingly divine.
After this heavenly lunch, we asked for our teas and for the dessert plates to be taken outside on the terrace. By now, the afternoon heat had cooled off, and there was a gentle refreshing breeze.
Sitting on the terrace, basking in the mild high afternoon sun, with views of the sea is not something to be missed. The view cannot get anymore relaxed and romantic (the latter more specifically at night I presume!).
I am unable to remember everything on the dessert station as there was an immense number of sweet dishes, but all I can say is that they all tasted nothing less than gratifying. Pure satisfaction and indulgence for my incurable sweet tooth!
The um ali (arabic sweet dish with goulash, milk and nuts) was stellar.
Excellent service, tremendous choice,superbly cooked.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. The staff were very polite and accomodating despite our late arrival. The setting is very versatile, for an enjoyable cosy and comfortable lunch , an important business lunch or a romantic dinner.
Tremendous variety, brilliantly cooked and cleverly presented with attention paid to each detail.
Our bill, for 2 lunch buffets with 2 teas (came with a huge teapot) was 360 dhms, which is relevant for a 5 star hotel restaurant.
This high standard venue in abu dhabi is certainly not to be missed and I cannot wait for another opportunity to arise to go again.

Last week, we were @ Aloft Hotel near Adnec, There was a party named Lounge with soulbeats by Dj Caz, The ambiance was extraordinary, since the Cafe del MAi is located outside on the 5th level of the hotel, and the view from it is terrific, plus the superb splash pool next to it. That makes Cafe Del MAi a must see restaurant by all.
